FACES OF COACH: Meet Dani

How did you hear about FAT?

I first came along to FAT in 2019, I had just moved to Auckland and was brought along by a friend. I absolutely loved the workout, the community, the energy, the music. 6 years later I’m excited to be joining as an instructor.

Describe yourself in 3 words :) ?

Supportive, curious, and committed.

What is your health and fitness background?

I’ve always been really active, I tried most sports growing up but mainly stuck to running and multi-sport. I was fortunate for this to take me across the world at a young age, but after recurring injuries (and because I love trying different ways to move my body) after high school I leaned more into strength, pilates, and yoga.

What are your top 3 pieces of advice to build a healthy routine?

  1. Do what you enjoy and what makes you feel good.
  2. Prioritise fuelling and recovery.
  3. Aim for small habit and mindset changes, then just do it!

Do you have any 2025 fitness/lifestyle goals?

My goal is to integrate more multi-sport back into my training. It has always been a goal of mine to compete in the Coast to Coast (140km cycle, 36km mountain run, and 67km kayak). I’m currently contemplating an entry for early 2026.. So watch this space!

What is your favourite and worst exercise?

My favourite are strength focused exercises. And worst for sure mountain or switch climbers.

Which advice would you give to a FAT first timer?

Come along and have fun with it! Getting out the door for that first session is always going to be the hardest thing to do, but the crew is all super friendly and the workout is epic. Don’t be too hard on yourself, allow yourself to be vulnerable, and enjoy the energy!

What would you like to learn or focus on in 2025?

My goal is to be really intentional about my training and in general with my day to day. Thinking about what I want to get out of a session (both training but also at work), that I’m setting myself up for the day with good fuel and recovery, and being really intentional with my switch off time.
