Tell us a bit about yourself :)
I’m Camille! I’m a very social, love to laugh, slightly competitive (I’ve heard), outdoor adventure sports addict.
How did you hear about FAT? Do you remember your first session?
I first saw FAT on IG through friends. I think I went to a class the following day from when it popped up on my feed. It was meant to be.
I remember finding the class a proper good workout and not being able to walk the next day and thinking this is the class for me. A selling point for me was how beautiful it was working out next to Westhaven Marina and watching the sun rise.
There were seriously good vibes from all the people there and lots of high-fives which I’m all about.
We have shared a few workouts together, what makes you keep coming back?
So many reasons; the vibe is amazing, the workout is proper good and most of all it’s out-freaking-side! I just love that we are working out watching the city, the ocean and the elements! It gives me real joy training outside.
What would you say to someone hesitating to come to FAT?
It’s a class for everyone, you get so much support and there is something truly special about watching the sunrise as you work-out. And if you want to know what that’s like, you’ll have to come to a class and find out.
Do you have a most memorable moment with us?
I’d probably say the first Tuesday class I ever went to I got a lot of support from Sam which is something I needed. Most memorably Sam taught me how to have better planking form. Something so simple I was doing so wrong and now I really feel the burn haha… thanks Sam.
Outside of our weekly session, what is your relationship with exercise / movement?
I love exercise, it keeps me sane… or insane. I’m big into adventure and outdoors sports. Every weekend you’ll find me; kitesurfing, diving, surfing, foiling, running and more. I can’t keep still.
Recently I’ve discovered I have a knee injury and I was told if I didn’t get my overall strength and muscles built up, I would continue to injure myself. So the FAT classes are really important to me at that moment and provide a lot of the cross training I need.
What are your health/movement and life goals for the second half of 2023?
My goal is really to get my knee strong enough to run long distances again. Then I can join Road Runners 😉. Running has just exploded over the past few years and I want to be back as part of that community, running in both trail and road runs around NZ.
Then more excitingly I’m about to head off to Tonga to Dive and Freedive with the humpback whales which has been on my bucket list for a while so I’m super excited.
