From Auckland to Vegas, get to know Will and his FAT journey from training with his colleagues to traveling with FAT ON DEMAND.
This is one of our greatest FAT stories, Will started training with us in 2019 along side his colleagues every Tuesday and Thursday lunch time. He then decided to join our community sessions to achieve more and he is now traveling the world with his wife and still training with us on FAT ON DEMAND around the world… you’ve got to love this story.
Can you tell a little bit about yourself
Name's Will and last week I turned a fresh 32 years old. My (new) wife and I are currently on our honeymoon in the States before going on to Mexico and Europe.
How did you hear about FAT, do you remember your first session?
I actually had my first FAT session on my second day at work. It was brutal because I hadn't done any HIIT classes before so it took a week for the body to come right! That was 3 years ago now and I've been doing the sessions twice a week since with some morning sessions sprinkled on the side (especially in the lead up to the wedding).
We have shared a few workouts together, what makes you keep coming back?
Definitely not the half time challenges or stair runs... Nah I come back because it's a great time exercising with colleagues and friends plus it's a good way to break up the day / week.
What would you say to someone hesitating to come to FAT?
It's such an amazing community and sometimes I forget that I'm even exercising because of the great music and energy in the class.
Do you have a most memorable moment with us?
My favourite session was Elliot's last when the baton got handed over to the Frenchman. It was early on Friday but that didn't stop 50+ people turning out for a killer workout, a lot of laughs and a worthy celebration for the end of an era and the start of something new.
Outside of our weekly session, what is your relationship with exercise/movement?
I was barely exercising at all until I started at FAT. That gave me the boost I needed to buy a pair of running shoes and hit the pavement as well. Since then I've run a couple of half marathons with hopefully a few more to go! In that time I've never been to the gym, just FAT sessions and running.
What are your health, life goals in 2022?
I made a goal last year to do a half marathon every year. But more specifically for this year it is to find a good balance when travelling between enjoying life on the road with my new wife and exercising.
You are currently and will be training with FAT ON DEMAND while you are travelling, how has your experience so far been?
The experience has been awesome! The classes are really fun, easy to follow and there's such a good range of content from 20-30min HIIT classes and pilates classes to challenges (some are very tough!) and you can do them anywhere you can fit a yoga mat! I've also found that exercising before and after a long journey is such a good way to destress and shake off the dust.
